“We’ve a budget that we absolutely cannot exceed”. Budgets are often very challenging, and at Ewhurst Baptist Church we needed some creative thinking to develop a sound and visual system that met the church’s immediate needs, but with future-proofing ‘out of the box’.
AV control with increased inputs was integrated in a mobile console and relocated at the back of the church. Two directional loudspeakers replaced the existing inferior “DJ” type speakers, further enhanced by a small bass speaker for the keyboard, creating a clear soundstage never experienced before by the congregation, and proper monitoring in the musicians' area enabled the worship band to perform with greater confidence.
An 80” High Definition flat screen was chosen to counteract the bright ambient daylight and was installed at the back of the platform. It is fed from a variety of digital inputs including a Blu-Ray DVD player and computer, all connected through a small matrix.
A totally new sound system and hearing loop was installed in the adjacent hall using the ex-church loop amplifier; this saved money and enabled a higher specification loop amplifier to be purchased for the church itself.
The sound system is now turn-on and go – a single operator faces the congregation to engineer a perfect sound balance for them. And all within the budget!
