When Newbury Methodist church realised the back wall of their church was about to fall outwards, they decided to take the opportunity to also provide a glassed off entrance lobby and new side access, refurbish the ageing organ and update the limited capabilities of their sound system.
Alan Jay-Green is their sound supervisor and is a corporate events AV operator by day job. He therefore knew exactly what he wanted – good radio microphones with ear-sets and discrete loudspeakers that covered the whole church, upstairs as well as down. Alan also wanted a church sound system capable of supporting contemporary worship, a good clarity hearing loop and for it all to be controlled from a flexible sound mixer with the capability to recall different set-ups for different services.
In Alan’s words “I wanted a supplier who would be sympathetic and versatile to our needs. Hazelwood were spot on - they listened to our requirements, went the extra mile to deliver and made suggestions to enhance our new system. Speaking to a few potential suppliers, Hazelwood Sound & Vision was the only company that met our criteria. It was also great to see Graham come to our church after completion to listen to the overall installation and then solve the issue of quiet voices on the lectern”.
Hazelwood Sound & Vision also accommodated a last minute re-organisation to allow worship “in the round” downstairs, which was no problem as we were still installing on site. As for the building and the Organ restoration - you really must visit the church to admire what a great job has been done.
Contact Hazelwood Sound & Vision to discuss your needs and we’ll be happy to arrange a demonstration.
